Hull and District Golf Alliance Beverley Golf Club 23rd Feb

It was a very windy and not such a warm start to the Alliance at Beverley. It was forecast to be 17 degrees but when I stood on the first tee at 10.07 it was freezing!! Somehow a pairing from Hull Golf Club enjoyed the early conditions though and shot an amazing 10 under par 59. A fantastic score in the conditions. The weather did improve as the day went on, and as the wind eased, scoring became a little easier. Hornsea’s best score came in from Paul and James Robinson with a 63. Hornsea are now 7 shots clear from Hull in the Victor Hurdle Cup with 2 events remaining.

      Ladies Competitive Golf

Our Winter “roll-up” competitions for the ladies has now been completed, and hopefully with the worst of the winter behind us, we can now continue with our established competitions. The first one “The Irons Comp” was held on the 21st February. Using Irons only, the Course seems very long, but 20 ladies competed and enjoyed the challenge. Rosie Atkin (Hcp 9) came in first with 31 stableford points and Cath Caley (Hcp 16) was second with 30 stableford points.
We are all now looking forward to the new season of golf.

Hornsea Golf Club Pro-am | Yorkshire PGA

Hornsea Golf Club are holding a Golf Pro-Am on Sunday 17th June 2012. The event is in conjuction with the Yorkshire PGA and has been sponsored by      Longbeach Leisure

The competition follows our successful event last year, but is now being held on a Sunday, which makes it a lot easier to fit in with work commitments. The entry is held at £210 to include a meal and hospitality. Our course received nothing but compliments from last years players and Pro’s and this year throws up some different challenges. As part of our ongoing course improvement programme, the 1st and 18th holes have been completely re-bunkered. We have always regarded our finishing holes as amongst the best in Yorkshire and our new look 18th has made this even more the case. There are some photos in our gallery of the work taking place at the end of last year.

Hull and District Alliance at Hainsworth Park

Thursday 16th February saw Hainsworth Park Golf Club hold the 8th Hull and District Golf Alliance event of the season. At the start of the week the event must have been in doubt due to the snow, but congratulations must go to Stu Atkin and his team for turning out a great test for the time of year. Hornsea went into the day leading the Victor Hurdle Cup and a great score from Ady Rosindale and Andy Kelly saw Hornsea’s lead increase to 10 shots with 3 events remaining. The best score of the day was a 62 from Sutton Golf Club pair B Morley and D Waterson.
The next event is at Beverley Golf Club on the 23rd February.

Many congratulations to David Schofield for achieving his 4th hole in one. He was playing the 12th hole at Hornsea Golf Club which at 160 yards needed, he told me, a well struck 5 iron. Very well done David and thanks for letting me be one of the first to know by ringing me from the course. I will one … Continue reading
