The Scorpions Annual Dinner takes place on Friday 13th April. There is a guest speaker, who is a World Champion, presentation of prizes and no doubt extraordinary rendition of the Rum Titty song. All Scorpions, reserves and Former Scorpions are invited. The cost for reserves and Former Scorpions is £15, including wine. If you wish to come, and you have not signed up yet, the sheet is on the Scorpions notice board.
The Scorpions Winter League finished on Sunday 1st April. The Winners were Ian Newton and Tim Hatchett with 8 ½ wins. Runners up were Adrian Foord and Norman Broxham.
Thirty-six Hornsea golfers travelled to Scarborough for the annual exchange. The weather forecast for the afternoon was for rain so the Fourball Betterball over 18 holes was played in the morning. Conditions were excellent and some great scores were returned.
The heavy rain arrived during the 9 hole individual competition in the afternoon, but it did not deter Paul Lockwood and Mike Harah carrying on after the comp to complete the full 18 holes. I’m sure there was a good reason!

Just a reminder to those who signed up, that the match Vs Flamborough (away) is on Sat 21st May. Tee-offs start at 12 noon. I’ll put up a list of pairings and times soon.
Scorpions and former Scorpions, 24 in total, depart for their Spring Outing to Hawkstone Park, on Thursday 12th May. Legend has it that it is not always the best golfers who win the competition on these outings, but those with the strongest stomachs (and thats the strongest, not the biggest). Good luck everyone! We look forward to a full report.

Hornsea Scorpions is a club of 24 members who play league matches on alternate Sundays during the winter months. Partners are drawn prior to the season with a lower handicap player partnering a higher handicap player.
Eleven rounds of matches take place. The golf is friendly but competitive.
In addition we aim to run the following events/functions:
Spring Outing: 2-3 days away at the beginning of May to a good course/hotel usually in the North of England, for 5 or 6 rounds of golf, good food, good company and perhaps a little drinking.
Two matches, home and away, against Flamborough Golf Club.
Pre-season dinner (with wives/partners) and an end of season dinner or lunch for Scorpions and former Scorpions where prizes are presented.
An Autumn and a Spring Competition for Scorpions and Former Scorpions.
In addition Scorpions organise the Scarborough North Cliff exchange, open to all club members as well as Scorpions.
The cost of membership is £35, which pays for the end of season lunch/dinner, the food at the Flamborough matches and prizes for the Winter league and the Autumn and Spring competitions.
If you are interested in joining for the 2011-12 season please email tim.hatchet@btinternet.com or sign up on the sheet on the Scorpions notice board in the changing room. New members of any handicap are welcome.
