Hornsea’s signature hole – The Pond; not long but a tight drive required between two dykes and a bunker on right of fairway, leaving a short iron over the pond onto a large green protected by water at front and right and bunkers front left and at the rear. A picturesque hole with new bridge erected in 2006.

The 11th at Hornsea is a short par 4 with a large pond in front of the green. To me it just causes a dilemma!! If I hit my Sunday best, I can drive this green, but it's all carry over water. It still gives me a buzz when I do it, and I know the members like me to have a go when I am playing with them. Does lead to an easy birdie if I make it though. Now if I use my head, I shall take a 4 iron off the tee, leaving me about 60 yards to the green, a distance I'm good at. Decisions, decisions!!! Good hole the 11th. Shows you don't need length to make a good golf hole. An easy birdie awaits if you are long and accurate off the tee!!!
