Captain Scarlett's Log - June 2017
9 June 2017

This month’s log is all about golf and my Captain’s Weekend.

So, here I am, almost halfway through my Captain’s year. I have to say that even though it has been hard work and challenging at times, I am thoroughly enjoying my time as Captain – meeting new people and playing lots of golf in varying formats.

Actually one of the reasons that I took on the Captaincy was because I wanted one last go at trying to get my handicap down before my body seized up completely! Well, it’s not worked so far (handicap wise) but I do feel that I am making some progress and my all round game is improving. The main problem is (as you all know) that just as you get your driving going, your chipping or putting goes haywire! And that’s when you need to practise whatever it is that suddenly isn’t working.

Unfortunately my Captain’s duties and golf commitments don’t allow me the time I would normally spend practising. Ironic, isn’t it!!

Anyway, hopefully in one of my remaining six Captain’s logs you’ll read about my handicap finally coming down. I do believe I can do it, and that is more than half of the battle.

My Captain’s charity, Sparks has raised a good amount of money so far. People have been very generous so thank you all for that. Captain’s Weekend is coming up soon – July 1st and 2nd.  It would be great to see as many of you as possible that weekend, either playing golf on the Saturday or Sunday (or both) or at the BBQ in the evening – although of course I’m hoping some of you will do all three!

If you haven’t seen the posters yet (they only went up yesterday) look at the noticeboards for information about the evening.

Hope to see you there.                                                    Captain Scarlett.

Next Log – July 2017.
