1st Division Open Results

On Saturday 2nd June Hornsea hosted the Hull and District 1st Division Open. A really disappointing entry of only 64 people played with local clubs not sending any entries at all. This is something that we shall look at and will be discussed in detail.

It was great though doing the cards and listening to all the positive comments about the course and conditions. There was only one moan about the greens so I guess out of that field that is not too bad. Scoring throughout the day was really quite good with many playing to or just slightly over their handicap. CSS all day didn't move from 72. With just 4 three ball to come in the heavens well and truly opened. I really don't think I have ever seen a spell of rain like it.

Out on the course was Hornsea member Leigh Gawley who was going very well. A great finish to the front 9 with 3 birdies saw him reach the turn in 32 shots. He was going well on the back 9 but the weather certainly played it's part in him really hanging on not just to his score but also his clubs on the last few holes! 70 gross in the end though which saw him take both the best gross and also the best nett prizes. Not bad off 1 handicap and a shame he can only take 1 prize! Below are all the prize winners which are now in credit in the shop at Hornsea.
