Gents Over 50's Open Am Am - Wednesday 5th May - Results

Wednesday 5^th May saw Hornsea’s first open event of the year. Our Gents Over 50’s am am’s are always popular events, with this week being no exception we had 31 teams participating in the event.

As always, we had been keeping our eye on the weather forecast and all seemed well. However, it was day of all weathers, with a hail/snow shower catching most out on the course at one point. For those travelling from further afield you probably found it a bit on the chilly side, trust us that is about as warm as we have had!

With competitors from all over Yorkshire the winning score of the day came from a team from Dore & Totley and College Pines, with an 87, next best in from Hallamshire, Crookhill Park and Willow Valley at 84. Scoring was consistent after the 2 best cards. Prizes for the day are vouchers for the Hornsea Pro Shop. Accounts will be opened in each player’s name and for those who have won prizes before it will further add to your winnings. They can be claimed any time either instore or we can arrange to post out products if required. We are a foremost store so if you are thinking ahead, we can order anything from their website for you.

Many thanks to our Greens Staff for preparing the course for the day, as many of you are finding at your own courses, it is a difficult time for all Greens teams up and down the country with the lack of rain and cold temperatures making growth hard to come by.

Thanks also to the Catering staff who are also working in unusual circumstances, the Halfway House was much appreciated, I heard particularly for the soup which was warming both the inside and the hands.

Next week we hold our second Over 50’s with 36 teams, a few spaces are available first thing if anyone wishes to enter a last-minute team.

Finally, thank you to all golfers for attending and supporting Hornsea Golf Club it is very much appreciated.
