Greens News - January 2018
2 February 2018

The prolonged wet weather has given us a few headaches this month.  We have had over 2 inches of rain in January causing ground conditions to swell.  This at times has resulted in a shortened course, temporary greens or course closures.

Ideally the greens would have been slit aerated on a regular basis and sprayed monthly with a winter feed.  Unfortunately with the soft ground conditions it was necessary to avoid having heavy equipment on the surfaces at this time.

The main works carried out this month has been the bunker reconstruction.  All bunkers have been lined and the edge created giving them shape and character.  Once conditions improve we will complete with rootzone material and turf from the nursery.

In the next few weeks we are looking to repair the fence behind the 6th green.  This is overdue as the fence posts have been rotten for some time.  It is also being considered to remove the row of hornbeams behind the 18th green.  They would be replaced with a beech hedge to mirror the hedge on the other side of the path.
